Synopsis
Unravels the mystery of a town in the middle of the United States that imprisons anyone who enters. As the residents struggle to maintain a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest. The site, known as Beaver Bank Villa, has a long history and many years ago contained housing units, a community hall, fire station, school, church, convenience store, etc. (all demolished in 2004) to support workers at a nearby military radar base that operated in the 1950s and 1960s.

The paved roads and driveways were all that remained and the fictional town was built on top of them. When Boyd enters a distant tree he finds himself at the bottom of a well. A rope is lowered to him by (presumably) Martin in the room above despite his wrists being shackled. I have loved this show so far and the acting and mystery etc. However, I am starting to get a little worried that this is going very much towards the “Lost” vibe. While “Lost” was also a fantastic show in terms of acting, directing etc. Ultimately what bothered me was how much mystery there was just for the sake of being mysterious.

Watching season 2, I kept getting a little annoyed every time another weird mystery was introduced, be it a symbol, an object, a thing, an event… mostly because I can’t stop thinking “Is this going to be relevant in any way in the long run? It’s just one of those mysterious creatures in the fog or a trapdoor or a light etc. Because that kind of mystery writing just ends up annoying me in the end, since the writer can reach into their behind and pull out absolutely anything and never come back to it.” Okay, then there’s a llama in a red hat who whispers the words “paleontological” and “spatula”!
and that’s it, forgotten a season later, no explanation, it was just there to be weird
I’ll still watch it though, but if one day it gets an ending where it’s just on the “it was all in his head!” level, I’ll be fine. and there will be no attempt to tie any thematic logic to all this, then consider this review at least 2-3 points lower…
