Synopsis
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee
He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe.. The "Day of the Jackal" novel was set in 1963 and involved an assassination attempt on the then-President of France Charles de Gaulle.
The show moves the setting to the current era
Referenced in Graham Norton i guests: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). Eddy is explosively good in this show, and he is in anything he puts his hand to.
The MI6 agent is massively miscast, she's not scary, she's not competent and has way too much airtime
That being said, the show shines as one of the best on TV right now because of Eddy's performance. The whole show could of been more engaging if we only had the Jackal in view, but as it is; Eddy carries the MI6 agent, whose name eludes me due to being so forgettable.
It's not a slow burner, it's non stop (excusing the MI6 agent)
Easily with your time, and I have the attention span of a goldfish. The story is not entirely complex, but apart from the MI6 agent, the rest of the cast are amazing. They don't spend loads of time on drama, the vast majority of the time is on the jackal, which is what makes this show amazing.
